Video 25 minutes Price: $19.95 No ISBN The USS Bass was launched as the V-2 on December 27, 1924 at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and commissioned on September 26, 1925. She was renamed the Bass on July 1, 1931 and taken out of service on February 18, 1937. Recommissioned on September 5, 1940 she made 4 war patrols in 1942. In August of that year, while on patrol, a fire broke out killing 25 members of the crew. She was subsequently converted to a cargo submarine. On March 18, 1945 she was expended as a target vessel. She now lies in 160 feet of water 8 miles south of Block Island, Rhode Island.
